Know before you arrive!!

This year the Hanson Hills Snow Sports School has taken measures to help assure the health and well-being of our guests, instructor’s and on site staff by instituting the following changes for the 2020/2021 winter sports season.

Unfortunately, all group programs have been canceled for this season. This includes Hoppers, Snow Board Academy and Level 1, 2 and 3 classes and the Free Learn to Ski Program held on Monday’s and Tuesday’s after school. The Snow Sports School will offer Private Lessons on Saturday and Sunday’s for Alpine, Snow Board and X-C starting at 11:00am and run at the top of each hour through the day.  A lesson is 1 hour long.  This year X-C lesson(s) will also be available during the week with a prior reservation only. * A group lesson (5 or more) or semi-private (2-4) will only be allowed if all members in the group are from the same household and approved by our Snow Sports School Director.

The procedure for booking your private lesson(s) will be as follows this season. Private lessons should be arraigned by calling the Hanson Hills Snow Sports School at 989-348-9266 ext.205. Reach our voice mail and leave your name, telephone number at the beginning and end of your message. Date and time you would like the lesson, number of people and if you will require rental equipment. A member of our staff will contact you to set up your lesson. Gather all information on the students, including if ski’s or snow boards are being rented. You should have the name, age, height, weight, and shoe size and ability level of the student and if you will be renting equipment for your lesson when we call you. We will also add lift tickets for the lessons into this reservation for each student to speed up the check in process.  At the time of the reservation a credit card will be taken and will be processed for payment prior to your lesson date. If multiple lessons will be taken during the season we suggest an affordable season pass to speed up your check in. Lesson reservation can be personally taken by a staff member on Saturday and Sunday during the schools hours of operation. Any questions on building a private lesson program through the season please contact our Snow Sports School Director.

To the Parents of our youngest slider and glider’s.  If you have a young child skiing or boarding with us that is not self-sufficient or may need some assistance we ask you stay close enough for us to bring you in if we have a need for a bathroom break, runny noses or maybe even a hug. We always cheerfully provide those things, but this year we think having the parent provide those comforts keeps everyone safer. We’ll miss giving the hug’s though! Any questions, please talk with your instructor on how to best structure that situation. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding on this change this year.

Upon your arrival the day of your lesson we ask that you boot up or fully prepare at your vehicle. Once ready, have one member of your party check in at the Snow Sports School window and we will give you your packet that will contain all receipts for payment, rental and the lift tickets for the students. If renting equipment you will go to our rental area and be individually fitted with your equipment which will be preset, ready and sanitized for you when you arrive. This will speed up the rental process for Snow Sports School guests. (Pre-sold lift tickets and pre-set, prepared equipment is only offered in the lesson package.)  During the time spent in this process everyone must properly wear a mask and maintain the 6 feet social distancing rule as much as is possible.  During lessons all guests and Instructors are to wear masks, especially on or around lift entrances and exits and maintain social distance as much as possible in a lesson environment. Within the 6ft distance masks and or face coverings must be worn.

The Hanson Hills Snow Sports School is discouraging walk in business at this time. If it is impossible to avoid, we ask only one member of your party come to the desk when you arrive. Make sure you come with all the required information on all students (see above, write it down) to make your lesson plan with our staff, or call us prior to your arrival. The number of guests is restricted within the lodge thus the reason for this requirement. The area will be following the local health department guidelines, the Ski Well, Be Well safety practices in addition to our on-site rules and our PSIA/AASI Covid Safety Practices. The Hanson Hills Snow Sports School reserves the right to deny services to those that do not follow the safety procedures instituted by the Hanson Hills Recreation Area or State of Michigan. Thank you for cooperating with our safety measures to assure all our guests has a fun and safe 2020/2021 winter sports season. Now let’s get out there and have some fun !
